A star-studded tribute to the songwriting team who penned “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head.”
Part One- Explore the philosophical and political developments that have enabled the Western hemisphere to dominate the globe for the past 500 years.
Over the years PBS has presented documentaries on various religious figures and philosophies. Last fall we aired the fascinating documentary BUDDHA, AMERICAN EXPERIENCE and FRONTLINE teamed up to present a series on The Mormons, and next month we’ll present a documentary on Martin Luther. This Sunday WOSU TV will air the four part documentary series CATHOLICISM.
The production crew on this series spent two years traveling to Jerusalem, Rome, Krakow, Istanbul, Nazareth, Ephesus, Lourdes, Guadalupe, and beyond to tell the story of Christianity and the Catholic faith. Father Robert Barron, our guide through the series, and his team were granted exclusive access to film in many locations not accessible to the general public. Highlights include what some consider a portion of the world’s great architectural and artistic masterpieces: The Dome of The Rock, The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, rare views of the Pantheon, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Pope’s private gardens, as well as Chartres, Notre Dame, and Cologne Cathedrals. This is a visually stunning documentary.
Father Barron uses art, architecture and music to tell the story of the Catholic faith. From Jesus to the Trinity, to the Catholic Church’s reverence for Mary and her unique role in the church and finally to Peter, Paul and the saints. Father Barron does a nice job helping the viewer gain a clearer understanding of the Catholic faith.
CATHOLICISM, airs Sunday, December 18, 3:00pm-7:00pm on WOSU TV.
